An initiative to involve more Americans in hunger prevention was launched Thanksgiving week by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the White House and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The special initiative will continue through Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January.
A new online toolkit at http://www.serve.gov includes ways Americans can assist food banks and help raise awareness of summertime hunger, when children are out of school and their participation in free and reduced meal programs drops significantly.
