Since 1995, COMPASS Youth Collaborative has worked to meet the needs of kids in Hartford, Connecticut, where the youth opportunity gap is especially wide. Known as an affluent city, Hartford nevertheless has more than half of households below the poverty level, and gang violence is a problem.
