OJJDP sent out an e-mail this week about the Juvenile Probation and Justice Management Conference, which will be held in Reno, Nevada from Oct. 5-8. The conference is overseen by the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges.
Topics on the itinerary include:
-A whole lot about something called “motivational interviewing,” which we will definitely look up and write about as soon as we know what it is.
-Juvenile sex offenders: how to treat them, and the impact of states implementation of the Walsh Act (which was broached here last month).
-Tribal courts.
Make haste if you or one of your staff could benefit from this, because the deadline is Sept. 15.
OJJDP has its own big event coming up on Sept. 12: The Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention quarterly meeting! JJ Today will be there, listening intently, so we’ll let you know how it goes.
