On her desk you’ll find a purple Marine Corps thermos next to her computer, which reads “Marine Wife: Toughest job in the Corps!” on the desktop.

Nikole joined Youth Today after interning in the OFFduty section of the Military Times, the Money section web desk at USA Today and serving as editor and producer of the Howard University News Service. Two weeks after receiving her B.A. with honors from Howard University, Nikole participated in the New York Times Student Journalism Institute in New Orleans. There she covered the BP oil spill, saw her first “second line” and ate food she couldn’t pronounce.

Nikole grew up in Jamaica, Queens, and refuses to trade in her New York driver’s license or phone number even though she’s lived in Alexandria, Va., for three years. When she’s not managing Youth Today’s digital content, Nikole can usually be found cooking or spending time with her tiny dog, Cookie.
