Homeboy Industries Lays Off Most of Staff

Homeboy Industries, the nation’s most famous jobs program for gang-involved youth, laid off  300 people, three-quarters of its staff, yesterday because of a deepening financial crisis. All that’s left now at the Los Angeles program are 100 employees – and questions about whether Homeboy, which has survived several close calls with collapse in the past, can find financial saviors once again.
