Youth Worker Indicted

Robert Miraglia, a New Jersey community youth worker at the Essex County Office of Alcoholism, Drug Abuse and Addiction Services, was charged last month with taking kickbacks to refer juveniles to certain drug treatment facilities. Miraglia was responsible for assessing juvenile offenders and giving them referrals to drug treatment centers as alternative sentencing. He was indicted when an anonymous tip led to the discovery that he had been paid by Facilities Management Associates (FMA), a group that managed the two centers to which he referred youths. FMA president Joseph Pritchard was also indicted in connection with the alleged scheme.
